If FC Lorient have been one of this season's biggest surprise packages in Ligue 1 Uber Eats then Enzo Le Fée has been the under-the-radar player pulling the strings for Régis Le Bris' side.

Lorient had been leaders and champions Paris Saint-Germain's nearest challengers until a recent wobble, and while the goals and assists of Terem Moffi and Dango Ouattara have grabbed headlines, Le Fée is the midfield metronome dictating play.

A France under-21 international who scored three goals in six appearances as les Espoirs qualified for next year's UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Romania and Georgia atop Group H, it now looks to be only a matter of time before Le Fée earns full international honours.

Enzo Le Fée, France

Back story:

Born on 3 February 2000 in Lorient, Le Fée first joined les Merlus aged eight after first club Vigilante de Keryado asked him to play three years up, thus separating him from his friends. He has been playing ahead of the curve ever since, however.

Le Fée raced through Lorient's age group teams and was handed his first-team debut in November 2018 at 18. Now into his fourth full season as a regular in the senior squad, it is easy to forget that Le Fée is still only 22. He has 120 senior appearances under his belt, and many more to come… provided Lorient can hold onto him.

Style of play:

Le Fée first broke through as an attacking midfielder, and continues to line up in the position for France, but it has been a Le Bris masterstroke to have Le Fée playing deeper in midfield this season.

His name may mean "the fairy" but Le Fée has proved anything but, with his five shot-creating actions per game complemented by an average of three tackles won per 90 minutes.

Current campaign:

Le Fée has started all 14 of Lorient's games in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this term, and opened his account for the season with a tap in in September's 3-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais. His second goal in the 3-1 win at AJ Auxerre the following week was a stunning free-kick, though.

He also has three assists to his name, so the deeper position hasn't negatively impacted his attacking output. Little wonder Leicester have reportedly sent scouts to the Stade du Moustoir to watch him.

What they said:

"In my last year at Keryado, they wanted me to play with players three years older than me. It prevented me from playing with my friends, so I immediately wanted to join Lorient!"

- Le Fée on a twist of fate that worked out for the best.

"He asks me to try things, to free myself, because he knows that I'm better in these situations. He's given me the keys so that I can develop and be important for the team."

- Le Fée on his improvement under Le Bris.

"He's a player I love. Enzo's the heart of our team."

- Lorient captain Laurent Abergel.
