As OL get set to contest their first Champions League quarter-final since 2010 - against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City no less - coach Rudi Garcia made it clear his lions have their hearts set on an upset.

Although OL are clear underdogs as they stare down the barrel of their historic one-off quarter-final clash with the mighty Manchester City, they have plenty of reasons for confidence, and coach Rudi Garcia could list all of them for you quite easily.

Garcia: 'Favourites can do it tough'

A renowned motivator, Garcia was very much on the front foot in his pre-match presser, vowing that his side will take the game to their fancied opponents from across the Channel.

"Appetite comes with eating," said Garcia to begin his press conference. "Having eliminated Juventus should give us confidence. We want to stay in Lisbon for a long time, even if City are the favourites to win the match. But the start of the quarter-finals showed that the favourites can do it tough."

While City's array of individual talents draw plenty of attention, Garcia is focusing on the bigger picture and looking to trump Pep Guardiola's carefully laid plans.

"We mustn't let this collective cause us any problems. We've looked at City's post-lock-down games and the systems that have caused them problems," explained Garcia, happy to play spoiler but also aware that his side's attitude will be key. "But it's not the system that matters, it's what you put into it, the drive you have. We also have to be able to press high and play to our strengths. And try to destroy theirs, even if they have a lot of them."

'Respond collectively to their individuality'

But what should perhaps give OL more confidence than anything else is the fact that they travelled to England and beat City in the Champions League group stage 2-1 two seasons ago.

"The OL's results against City in 2018 have shown that there are no games that are lost in advance. And it also showed my lads the keys to pulling off a real upset. You have to establish time on the ball and do everything you can to score. We have to be more dangerous up front. We have to respond collectively to their individuality. Whatever the system, what's important is the will of my players. It would be historic to have two French clubs in the semi-finals - we need to take inspiration from what PSG did."

Garcia has no injury concerns for the match and is tipped to start with the same XI that took on - and beat - Juventus, with the exception of Moussa Dembélé's starting in attack alongside Memphis Depay at the expense of Karl Toko Ekambi.

Meanwhile Guardiola is tipped to stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation, with veteran midfielder David Silva to pull the strings in the middle while Gabriel Jesus continues to deputise for Sergio Aguero, still out of action after undergoing knee surgery.
