Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni produced yet another impressive performance for France as his late header won Friday's friendly with Cote d'Ivoire for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winners.

Tchouameni netted his first goal for his country in his eighth appearance, rising to head Matteo Guendouzi's corner beyond Badra Sangaré three minutes into added time at the Orange Vélodrome to secure a 2-1 victory.

The former Bordeaux man, who has found the net just once in 27 Ligue 1 Uber Eats appearances this season, has looked assured since breaking into the France team in September, and after opening his international account, he aims to maintain an upward trajectory with his country.

"It's just the fruit of hard work. I try to stay calm. It's true that what's happening to me is great, but as I have said from the start, I have various objectives, and, for example, scoring my first goal was one of them. Now we're going to move on to something else," said the 22-year-old, who netted France's second after Olivier Giroud had cancelled out Nicolas Pepe's opening goal in the first half.

"There's a team and a technical staff that help me a lot to show my personality, and that's what makes me feel really good on the pitch.

"In the first half, we really attacked, which meant that on certain counter-attacks, Cote d'Ivoire had the opportunity to break through. In the second half, we tightened things up a bit and I think we didn't give them a single chance. In the end, we were rewarded, that's good."
