PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi hit the winning spot-kick as Morocco trumped a Spain side featuring Parisians Pablo Sarabia and Carlos Soler 3-0 on penalties to book a first-ever World Cup quarters berth.

Morocco are through to the World Cup quarters for the first time in history, and the man who sealed the deal was none other than Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi, who stroked calmly home to make it a 3-0 penalty clean sweep over Spain.

Although the two sides were incredibly evenly matched throughout an exciting and openly attacking 120 minutes, Morocco proved clinical from the spot while 'keeper and Player of the Match Yassine Bounou was impermeable, making two saves.

Meanwhile Parisian Pablo Sarabia - who had skimmed an audacious, tight-angled volley off the face of the post with the last kick of extra-time - hit his spot-kick into the base of the upright.

So cool

This set the stage for Hakimi to clinch the historic result, and he did so in style, calmly stroking the ball up the middle to send his team - and his country - into raptures.

Hakimi to mark Mbappé?

The Paris Saint-Germain right-back found the time after the match to catch up with close friend Kylian Mbappé, against whom he could find himself doing battle in the semi-finals should Morocco get past Portugal and France best England in the quarters on Saturday!
