Paris Saint-Germain moved to the top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table - until Sunday at least - with a 3-0 win over Montpellier Hérault SC on Friday.

Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Montpellier Hérault SC

THE MATCH

Montpellier began with intent and Téji Savanier was only a Nordi Mukiele block away from having the first shot on goal inside the first few minutes (2'), but PSG's class soon told. Lee Kang-in put them in front, blasting the ball beyond Benjamin Lecomte after Kylian Mbappé had expertly dummied Achraf Hakimi's low cross (10'). Ousmane Dembélé had another good chance for the hosts midway through the half, but after getting in behind Théo Sainte-Luce his shot was well saved by Lecomte (26'). Hakimi then sent a free-kick straight at Lecomte (30') before Maxime Estève cut out a low Dembélé ball intended for Randal Kolo Muani (42). All told, PSG had 11 shots on goal to their opponents' three in the first half, but they had to content themselves with a 1-0 scoreline at the break.

Paris pull clear

Estève made another crucial interception to keep an Mbappé pass from reaching Dembélé in a dangerous area early in the second half but there was to be no denying PSG pulling further clear. Warren Zaïre-Emery played a smart one-two with Dembélé before producing an assured finish which belied his tender 17 years for 2-0 (58'). Luis Enrique mixed things up just past the hour, bringing Gonçalo Ramos and Vitinha on for Kolo Muani and Lee (62'), and Vitinha made his presence felt minutes later, converting from another Hakimi assist for Paris' third of the evening (66'). Fabian Ruiz saw a late effort saved by Lecomte (81') before a Ramos headed goal was ruled out for offside (90'+3) and it ended 3-0.

THE PLAYER: Achraf Hakimi

Simply the deadliest full-back in world football, Hakimi had a hand in two goals on Friday and now has eight goal-involvements from 13 games this season. Dembélé also deserves a special mention here, and their link-up play down the right was a sight to behold against Montpellier.

THE STAT: 300

This was Marquinhos' 300th victory in PSG colours since joining from Roma back in 2013. The Brazil international centre-back wasn't at his busiest at the Parc des Princes on Friday, but what a club servant he has been. He now has five more wins than Marco Verratti, who left for Al-Arabi last month.
