Another Sunday, another busy slate of Ligue 1 fixtures. Stade Brestois maintained their impressive form, while Clermont Foot and Toulouse FC secured victories to aid them in the relegation battle.

After AS Monaco's defeat on Saturday, Brest seized the opportunity with a 2-0 victory against Montpellier Hérault SC at the Stade Francis Le Blé. Les Pirates took 26 shots during the match, nine of which hit the target, leading to two goals.

These two goals proved sufficient to secure the victory and prolong their undefeated run in Ligue 1 to seven games. Additionally, this win propelled Eric Roy and his team ahead of Monaco, and into third place. Brest are now just one point behind OGC Nice, who also lost over the weekend.

While Brest is fighting at the top of the Ligue 1 table, Clermont and Toulouse are in a relegation battle, with the two sides earning three crucial points. Clermont secured a 2-1 win over FC Nantes, and Toulouse defeated FC Metz 1-0.

Clermont won their first Ligue 1 game since Nov. 12, ending a six-game winless streak. The victory doesn't get Les Lanciers out of the relegation zone, but it gets them within two points of Metz, who occupy 15th place in the table, the first position above the relegation playoff position.

However, Toulouse's victory, coupled with Olympique Lyonnais' defeat, enabled them to escape the relegation playoff position. Les Violets ended their ten-game winless streak and currently hold the 14th position in the table.

Les Gones, despite the announcement of Pierre Sage’s contract being made permanent, endured an ugly loss which saw them lose 3-1 away to Le Havre. An early goal by Gautier Lloris was followed by Jake O’Brien being sent off, and despite Alexandre Lacazette pulling a goal back in the second half, things went from bad to worse, as Duje Caleta-Car’s dismissal saw OL finish with nine men.

In the upcoming Ligue 1 fixtures, Brest is set to face Paris Saint-Germain away, Toulouse will host RC Lens in a home clash, Clermont will welcome RC Strasbourg Alsace, and Lyon will host Stade Rennais.
