Dante has extended his contract with OGC Nice and vowed to "come back even stronger" from the ACL injury that has ruined his 2020/21 season.

The 37-year-old has been sidelined since rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament against Angers in early November, stopping the clock on his 160 appearances (6 goals, 7 assists) for Nice, whom he joined in 2016.

His previous deal had been due to expire at the end of the current campaign, but despite his injury, Nice have still followed through on a promise to give him an opportunity to play again next season.

"We all know that here one's word is one's bond," said the former Bayern Munich man on his social media accounts. "I must confess it's my biggest Christmas present. I would like to thank all those who have shown their faith in me, and I promise to work very very hard to come back even stronger and wear our colours with a lot of pride."
