Karl Toko-Ekambi was named in the Olympique Lyonnais squad for the Ligue 1 Uber Eats leaders’ clash with Stade Rennais FC on Saturday after missing their midweek game due to a positive coronavirus test.

The Cameroon international played no part against RC Lens on Wednesday after a positive test for Covid-19 on his return to the club from their short winter break. His return to the squad for such a big game is a boost, but it remains to be seen if he will play any part after his spell in isolation.

“We will have to see how he feels,” said coach Rudi Garcia, who also has a doubt over right-back Léo Dubois due to a calf knock. Moussa Dembélé is injured and Bruno Guimarães is still missing after being forced to remain back in Brazil where he also tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile Garcia is worried about success getting to the heads of his players as they seek to extend a remarkable 15-game unbeaten run when they take to the field at Roazhon Park.

“We are afraid of the media hype, because praise weakens men. We need to put things into perspective. I think the players know it. We need to remain focused because a very difficult match awaits us and we want to keep our unbeaten run going,” Garcia said.
