Ligue 1 Uber Eats leaders Lille fell to Ajax in the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League but played very well in the second leg in Amsterdam, leaving coach Christophe Galtier nursing regrets.

LOSC fell 2-1 on the night at Ajax to exit 4-2 on aggregate but were still in the tie until two minutes from the end when David Neres scored Ajax's second goal. Davy Klaasen (15') had opened the scoring before Yusuf Yazici equalised (78') from the spot to make it seven Europa League goals to go with seven in the league for the club's top scorer.

Galtier, whose players can now focus on winning the Ligue 1 Uber Eats title for the first time since 2011, said: "There's a huge amount of frustration, frustration we're going to have to deal with, because we only played one match out of the two. In order to qualify you need to play two top-level matches and we were very average in the first leg. We lost the second leg because of breaks. In order to trouble Ajax and take them to extra-time, you need to show the face we had in this match.

"I can't criticise my players"

"I have nothing to criticise my players for apart from small details when it came to marking for Ajax's two goals and the fact that we didn't take our chances. In terms of daring in our play and the desire to always go forward, I can't criticise my players, even if the overall result sticks in the throat in any case."
