PSG welcome Nice to the Parc des Princes having made an electric start to the season, picking up 22 of a possible 24 points to sit top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table, two points clear of next-best Olympique de Marseille.

Galtier has set up the team in a 3-4-2-1 formation designed to get the best out of each member of 'MNM', and it has worked. Messi has four goals and seven assists so far this season; Neymar eight and seven of each, while Mbappé has also struck seven times.

Neymar on fire

Neymar's 15 goal involvements have come involvements have come in a at a rate of one every 41 minutes he has played, making him statistically the deadliest player throughout Europe's five major leagues per UEFA coefficient this season, but Galtier is refusing to let his players rest on their laurels.

"You can always improve as a player, especially mentally," said the former LOSC tactician. "On a technical level, the players I have are at an extraordinary level. We have to make them progress on a mental level, on what the job requires, on everything we've worked on in preparation for the session, in preparation for a match, in focus, in determination.

"We insist on what we want to see from the team on the positioning that the players must have, which then becomes movement. Obviously, there's a lot of work to do. When you're at Paris Saint-Germain, people forget that. There's a lot of work on the part of my technical staff, my analysts, my physical trainers and myself."

Kimpembe out, Sanches doubtful

PSG are without Presnel Kimpembe due to a thigh injury, with Danilo Pereira set to continue to deputise at centre-back in his absence. Galtier's former Lille midfielder Renato Sanches is a doubt with a knock picked up in training, but with Marco Verratti, Vitinha et al, Paris have an embarrassment of riches in midfield too.

Nice finished fifth last season and qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League, but they are down in 13th this term after an abject start to the campaign which has seen them pick up just eight points from their eight games so far.

Les Aiglons are undefeated in three games against PSG stretching back to February 2021, and Galtier's opposite number Lucien Favre will at least get the chance to stretch that run to four with club chairman Jean-Pierre Rivère leaping to his defence recently.

"We aren't going to change manager after just eight games," he said. "This isn't the solution either on a sporting or human level. We had a long meeting with him yesterday and Lucien left very happy, he was happy that we support him.

Rivère: 'rumour lacking in respect'

"The rumours were unfounded. No one at the club contacted, nor called [former PSG coach] Mauricio Pochettino or his representatives. It's a rumour lacking in respect and weakens our current coach's position."

Favre isn't helped by the absences of Aaron Ramsey and Jean-Clair Todibo due to a thigh injury and suspension respectively.

Todibo was sent off just a minute into Nice's 1-0 loss to Angers SCO in the final game before the international break. His place at centre-back will likely go to Mario Lemina - a midfielder by trade - with Mattia Viti not yet earning the trust of his coach.

Possible teams

PSG: Donnarumma; Ramos, Marquinhos, Pereira; Hakimi, Vitinha, Verratti, Mendes; Messi, Neymar; Mbappé

Nice: Bulka; Lotomba, Lemina, Dante, Bard; Pépé, Beka Beka, Thuram, Diop; Laborde, Delort
