Rennes topple PSG

A second-half goal from Rennes captain Hamari Traore handed Rennes a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

In a tight contest, Traore found himself unmarked and fired in the only goal of the game (65') to hand the hosts the crucial three points in the race for Europe.

"We were lacking a lot of things tonight," said PSG coach Christophe Galtier who suffered just his second defeat since taking charge last summer. "We lacked rythym, intensity and verticality. If we start looking for excuses or reasons, we'll obviously find some, but we can't hide behind that. It was also tough against Lens, it was hard against Angers. We need to get back to our game and stay higher on the pitch and have more people going forward. And tonight that was really lacking."

Lens edge Auxerre

Lens kept up the pressure on leaders PSG with a 1-0 win at home to Auxerre.

The only goal of the game came from the penalty spot through Przemysław Frankowski (59') to hand Lens a tenth home league win of the season.

Marseille stage comeback

Marseille came back from a goal down to beat Lorient 3-1 at the Orange Velodrome.

Terem Moffi superbly volleyed the visitors in front (29') to notch his 12th goal of the season.

But Marseille hit back in style through a Sead Kolasinac header (38') before Alexis Sanchez (53') and Jordan Veretout (59') finished off the Breton side to keep Igor Tudor's side hot on the heels of second-placed Lens.

Seventh heaven for Monaco

A hat-trick from Wissam Ben Yedder helped Monaco defeat Ajaccio 7-1 at the Stade Louis II.

Monaco raced into an early two-goal lead through Axel Disasi (2') and Krepin Diatta (6'). Youcef Belaïli pulled on back for the Corsican's (11') before Philippe Clément's side ran riot.

Ben Yedder then completed a stunning 14-minute hat-trick (21', 28 & 35') before two second-half goals from Breel Embolo (63' & 89') added to the visitors' misery.

Five-star LOSC see off Troyes

Two goals each from Mohamed Bayo and Jonathan David helped LOSC to a 5-1 win over Troyes at the Decathlon Arena.

Bayo opened the scoring in the 16th minute before David added a second on the stroke of half time. The floodgates opened in the second half when Bayo (47'), Alan Virginius (75') and David (85') completed the rout. Mama Baldé pulled one back for the visitors (65').

Strasbourg stun Lyon

Strasbourg inflicted a second-successive home defeat on Lyon with a 2-1 victory at the Groupama Stadium

Jean-Eudes Aholou superbly volleyed the visitors in front (29') before Habib Diallo scrambled the ball across the line after some calamitous Lyon defending, to extend Strasbourg's lead.

Lyon's top scorer Alexandre Lacazette kept his cool to pull on back from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time but the hosts were unable to find a leveller.

Clermont win at Angers

Clermont moved up to eighth on the table with a 2-1 win over lowly Angers.

Goals from Elbasan Rashani (40') and Neto Borges two-minutes after the interval handed Clermont the initiative. Sofiane Boufal pulled a goal back for the league's bottom club (80') but Clermont held on for their eighth win of the season.

Goalless at Reims

Reims continued their long unbeaten run stretching back to September with a goalless draw at home to Nice.

Nice occupy tenth while Reims sit one place adrift in 11th on the table.

Nantes see off nine-man Montpellier.

Montpellier followed up their 6-1 thrashing at Nice in midweek with a 3-0 home defeat to Nantes.

Goals from Andrei Girotto (45'), Mostafa Mohamed (81') and Ludovic Blas (84') were enough for Antoine Kombouaré's men to claim a comfortable three points. Wahbi Khazri and Elye Wahi both saw red for Montpellier.

Honours even at Toulouse

Toulouse and Brest battled to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium Municipal.

Steve Mounié opened the scoring for Brest (18') but the visitors were unable to hold on for the points when Zakaria Aboukhlal levelled up for Philippe Montanier's side (65').
