Olympique Lyonnais' Chelsea-bound right-back came off with a hamstring complaint against ESTAC Troyes last Saturday, but shouldn't be out for long.
Gusto has emerged as one of the best right-backs in Ligue 1 Uber Eats in recent seasons, and caught Chelsea's eye this winter, the London club signing him for €35 million before loaning him back to Lyon for the remainder of the campaign.
The 19-year-old has remained Lyon's first-choice right-back since Laurent Blanc replaced Peter Bosz as head coach in October, but has been subbed off early in each of their last two games in all competitions - a penalty shoot-out win over LOSC in the Coupe de France as well as the 3-1 victory against Troyes in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.
Gusto won't start Lyon's meeting with RC Lens on Sunday, but Blanc is optimistic about the defender's injury prognosis.
"We have a problem with Malo," he conceded ahead of Sunday's game. "He injured his hamstring a few days ago and he recovered. He didn't reinjure himself; it wasn't a tear.
"[But] he still has discomfort. You must treat it well but it's not much. I hope that OL and Chelsea will show common sense. In any case, he's not fit to play a Ligue 1 match, it's better to wait. But he could be on the bench."
The 17-year-old Saël Kumbedi is likely to get the nod at right-back against Lens in Gusto's absence.
