Ismaël Gharbi has impressed Christophe Galtier in recent weeks and could be in line for more minutes during Paris Saint-Germain's season run-in.

Gharbi has made four substitute appearances in Ligue 1 Uber Eats since the turn of the year, as well as one start in the Coupe de France.

Alongside Warren Zaïre-Emery and El Chadaille Bitshiabu, he is at the vanguard of the next generation of PSG superstars, and the three teenagers have each been named in matchday squads at least 20 times this season.

Whilst stopping short of promising Gharbi a start against FC Lorient on Sunday, Galtier did single out the French-born Spanish youth international for special praise.

Galtier: 'Huge progress'

"We have competitors running at full speed," he said. "We can't drop points, and in this context it's difficult to integrate the youngsters. It's a privilege for them training eight or nine months with great players…

"[However] there has been huge progress between the Ismaël that I discovered at the start of the season and the Ismaël of today, who has matured."

Attacking midfielder Gharbi has six goals and an assist from just six games in the UEFA Youth League this season, and former PSG midfielder Mathieu Bodmer has said that "in the penalty area, time stops for him."
