In the wake of their 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais have opted to end their partnership with head coach Laurent Blanc. Youth academy boss Jean-François Vulliez will take the reins until a replacement is found.

Although Laurent Blanc's contract at OL was set to run through to June 2024, the club from eastern France has opted to sack the 57-year-old following the humiliating defeat at the hands of PSG in Round 4.

Blanc was informed of the decision on Friday before the club announced his interim replacement - Jean-François Vulliez, who steps up from his position as head of OL's youth academy, with special advisor Sonny Anderson and ex-U19s coach Jérémie Bréchet assisting him.

What now?

Now with an interim team in place, club owner John Textor is actively searching for a new permanent number one, with the names of former Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso and current Red Star coach Habib Beye cropping up with the most insistence.

Lyon, who currently sit bottom of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table with a solitary point after four matches, are having their worst-ever start t o a Ligue 1 Uber Eats season and will be looking to right the ship under Vulliez when they take on promoted Le Havre at 210:45 CET on Sunday 17 September.
