Stade de Reims’ home has seen no structural change, yet attendance figures and a notable enthusiasm around the club has transformed the Stade Auguste-Delaune’s home atmosphere since the arrival of Will Still at the club.

In the heart of the Champagne region, Stade de Reims is undergoing a transformation. Whilst their resurgence on the pitch under manager Will Still has seen the fortunes of Les Rouges et Blancs change dramatically - it is also in the stands where the club is now evolving, and Reims’ supporter base is growing.

Jean-Pierre Caillot, at the helm of the club for two decades, once lamented the prevalence of mere "spectators" over dedicated "supporters" in the stands. However, recent developments have significantly eased his longstanding frustration. The 20,000 seater stadium will be full for the visit of Champions Paris Saint-Germain, against whom Will Still (still) has an unbeaten record in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

"Something changed in the atmosphere. Even with good results before, the enthusiasm wasn't as pronounced because the style of play was often more restrictive," said Prime Video pundit Benjamin Nivet. "Now, there's a newfound passion, thanks to the team's constant determination to play with quality."

Reims entering a golden era under Still?

A triumphant victory against Rennes (3-1 on December 29, 2022), the spectacular comeback against Lorient (4-2 after trailing 0-2 on February 1), and the resounding triumph over Troyes (4-0 on February 12) have laid the foundation for the current excitement. The numbers speak volumes – with 8,000 season ticket holders and an average attendance of 15,069, both historic records for the club.

Daniel Wargnier, the 87-year-old president of the club's supporters' association acknowledges Will Still's pivotal role in an interview with L'Équipe: "Will Still, at 31, plays a crucial role in the emergence of this fantastic atmosphere. The young audience fully resonates with what he wants to instil."

The ambiance should be effervescent for the visit of PSG to the Champagne region today (kick-off 17:00), with Reims hoping to continue their push for European football.
