Jean-Pierre Papin, Karim Benzema, Olivier Giroud, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kylian Mbappé: for decades, football's greatest stars have been battling it out on Ligue 1 Uber Eats pitches for the title of French champion and the chance to finish top scorer in the league.
To accompany the conquest of this Holy Grail and to celebrate the Ligue 1 Uber Eats strikers, a brand new and innovative system is being launched a third of the way int the league season with:
A new title for the top scorer: TOP SCOREUR.
A new code name: S1.
A new distinctive sign: the S1 badge, which will be affixed to the Top Scoreur's shirt on each new matchday.
More than just a badge, the S1 is a genuine design object conceived by Tyrsa, an artist who has already made a name for himself on a number of occasions, in collaboration with prestigious brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Moncler, and with artists such as FKA Twigs and Childish Gambino.
The S1 badge symbolises the meeting of the letter 'S' for 'Scoreur' and the number '1', joined together on a circuit that illustrates the race among the goalscorers. On closer inspection, you can also see the 34 lines that make up the background, like the 34 rounds of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats campaign. All in gold, to symbolise excellence and the highest place in the rankings.
The first badge will be presented to Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé, currently top of the goalscoring charts with 13 goals so far this season. The badge will be worn for the first time on the shirt that Paris Saint-Germain's No.7 will wear when he takes on AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes on Friday in the opening match of Round 13.
To celebrate this first appearance, another Paris Saint-Germain and Ligue 1 Uber Eats legend, Pedro Miguel Pauleta, will be on hand at the Parc des Princes to present him with this exceptional shirt.
Throughout the season, this prestigious badge will accompany the leader of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats scoring charts. After each round, the race for the Top Scorer badge will be highlighted by a video featuring the leading scorers. As the round progresses and the rankings change, the badge may change owner until the final accolade is awarded at the end of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats season, scheduled for Saturday 18 May 2024, when the trophy for the season's Top Scoreur will be presented.
From this weekend onwards, the race to be Top Scoreur is on!
