Stade Rennais FC this evening announced the signing of the Ghanaian international defender, Alidu Seidu, from Clermont Foot 63.
Following in the footsteps of legendary Ghanians like Asamoah Gyan and John Boye, Alidu Seidu has joined Stade Rennais FC. After several seasons with Clermont Foot, he has made the move to the Breton side, signing a contract through June 2028. In his time in Auvergne, he played in 89 first team matches, helping Pascal Gastien’s team earn promotion from Ligue 2 at the end of the 2020-2021 season. A senior international since 2022, he has earned nine caps for the Black Stars, including taking part in the 2022 World Cup.
Speaking to the club’s website, he underscored how the move would help him realize his personal and professional ambitions: “Stade Rennais is a great club, this is a great privilege for me. I am a player who does not like to lose, I am combative, I give everything for my colleagues and I am always looking for progression. I am very close to Kamaldeen Sulemana, and I get along very well with Christopher Wooh. The rest of the players, I’ve faced them in Ligue 1, I'm sure we will get on well in the locker room.”
