Olympique Lyonnais kick off a big week with a huge challenge as Juventus come calling in the UEFA Champions League last 16 on Wednesday - but Rudi Garcia and his men are calm and ready to show what makes OL a special club.

>> Kick-off at 21:00 CET

For all the ups and downs in their season, with a change of coach and loss of big-name players Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde to injury - Lyon are still active in four competitions and have a real chance of winning a first trophy since lifting the Coupe de France in 2012.

In their bid to do so, the coming week will prove crucial, as it features a Rhône derby and a cup semi-final against PSG  - but only after they face the might of Juventus, who come calling in the UEFA Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.

Garcia: 'Wouldn't be here if we didn't deserve to be'

Critics have claimed that Lyon, who failed to win in four league outings before a 2-0 victory in Metz at the weekend, will be out of their depth against La Vecchia Signora but no-one at the Rhône Valley club agrees.

"We have had some tough times but we wouldn't be here if we didn't deserve to be," said coach Rudi Garcia in his pre-match press conference. "There were some great games before I came here and more since I've been here. When you're talking about a last 16 Champions League tie with Juve, that's all the motivation you need, and when you look at the week ahead of us, with the derby on Sunday and the Coupe de France semi-final against PSG next week, that says something about the greatness of this club."

Twelfth man

There are, however, few club greater than Juventus, with their Portuguese goal machine Ronaldo at the ready, but Garcia is counting on the Groupama Stadium faithful to help his side across the line.

>> Why Lyon can stop Ronaldo where others haven't

"We'll have to stop Juve from playing to their strengths and cause them problems, because if we just defend, we won't win the game. But we'll be at home, in front of our home crowd, and we'll use this twelfth man to help us find our strength," said the former LOSC, Roma and Marseille boss, tipped to go with a three-man defence to contain the threat of Ronaldo and Argentine strike partner Paulo Dybala.

Aouar, Dembélé - Lyon's 2-1 Coup de France win over Nice

Positive for Garcia in the Metz win was that his two main threats - striker Moussa Dembélé and midfielder Houssem Aouar - both continued their goal-scoring form while new signing Bruno Guimaraes, who shone in the centre of the park alongside Lucas Tousart, proved a sold option.

Puncher's chance

Garcia is likely to play fit-again Léo Dubois as a wing-back on the right, with part-time left-back Maxwel Cornet mirroring him on the left, while Dembélé should be flanked by the pacy duo of Karl Toko Ekambi and Martin Terrier on the right and left respectively. The OL boss has options in his bid to shut down Juve's threats, but isn't focusing overly on the opposition.

>> Five reasons why OL can beat Juventus

"We can't have an anti-Ronaldo plan, because we would also need a plan for Dybala and many others," reasoned the OL boss. "But whatever the formation, the most important thing is that the players can play well in that system. Juve may be favourites, but we know that in football it's not always the strongest team that wins. We have to enjoy playing these games and make sure that we don't give an inch."

Probable teams

Olympique Lyonnais: Lopes; Denayer, Marcelo, Marçal; Dubois, Tousart, Aouar, Cornet; Toko Ekambi, Mo. Dembélé, Terrier

Juventus: Szczesny; Danilo, De Ligt, Bonucci, Alex Sandro; Bentancur, Pjanic, Rabiot; Cuadrado, Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo
