Olympique Lyonnais have recently experienced a good run with Brazilian players, including the likes of Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimarães. The next player who hopes to leave a good impression on the team’s supporters is Jeffinho.
The 23-year-old arrived early this year from Botafogo to Lyon as the Brazilian began his adventure into European football. Through 21 appearances, the winger has scored three goals, including the late-game winner against AS Monaco on Friday, and registered three assists.
While Jeffinho finds his footing with Lyon and French football, that goal against Monaco should be a confidence booster heading into a new year. After settling into a new league and environment this year, 2024 will probably allow the young player to flourish.

Jeffinho wants to continue that line of Brazilians who have found success at OL, as he stated in an interview with the club's official website upon his arrival:
"There are many Brazilian players who have played here and made history. I could spend all day telling their stories. I hope I'll be one of them. Marçal and Rafael, who were at Botafogo with me, were very supportive of my decision."
"They're like parents to me; they helped me a lot when I arrived at Botafogo. They were happy for me to come to OL. They told me to be the kid I was at Botafogo, to give my all for the team. OL isn't just a team. It's a family to us."
Finding success at OL could also help the former Botafogo player when it comes to the Brazilian national team. Brazil will soon have a new coach, and with the 2024 Copa America and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, next year is a perfect opportunity to put his name in the hat for a call-up.
If Lyon wants to avoid a relegation battle and find some success next year, one of the catalysts driving the attack will need to be Jeffinho, and he appears to have the mentality for it.
