Throughout his remarkable career, André Ayew has shown his talent at various clubs, dedicating a significant portion of it to Olympique de Marseille. Ayew began his journey with the club in the youth system and eventually progressed to the first team.

While at OM, Ayew played in 209 matches across all competitions, scoring 60 goals and providing 25 assists. Marseille achieved significant success during Ayew’s tenure, securing two Trophée des Champions and two Coupe de la Ligue trophies.

In 2021, The Athletic interviewed the 34-year-old, who emphasized the mentality instilled in him while playing at Marseille, highlighting that playing for OM requires knowing that the standard is always to win.

“At Marseille, you always have to win; there is no excuse. Even in the academy, it was already the mentality... But when you are at those clubs with big players who are used to winning, they don’t accept defeat.”

Ayew has represented Ghana in three FIFA World Cups (2010, 2014, and 2022). Additionally, his involvement in the Qatar tournament distinguishes Ayew as the sole Ghanaian player to have participated in the nation’s most recent three World Cup editions.

The forward has come close to winning the Africa Cup of Nations twice, as the Black Stars were runners-up in 2010 and 2015. Ayew also finished in third place with Ghana in 2008.

Apart from team success, the former OM player achieved individual success, winning the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé award in 2015, the BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2011, and securing three CAF Team of the Year honors (2010, 2011, and 2015).
