Olympique Lyonnais saw their impressive six-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 defeat against RC Lens on Sunday night at Groupama Stadium.

Even though they were playing as the away team, RC Lens' offense showed more dominance in the first half, with a total of nine shots. Les Sang et Or would turn one of those shots into a goal right before halftime as Florian Sotoca opened the scoring in the 43rd minute.

Coming out of the dressing room, Lens would quickly have an opportunity to add a second goal. After a VAR review, Lens were awarded a penalty, which Elye Wahi converted for the 2-0 lead.

In the second half, OL took a total of eight shots in attempting to bounce back from a 2-0 deficit, but unfortunately, they couldn't score. With Alexandre Lacazette unavailable for the contest, Lyon lacked a goal-scoring touch.

Later in the second half, OL found themselves in even deeper trouble when Ainsley Maitland-Niles was shown a straight red card in the 84th minute. Lens capitalized on the advantage against Lyon three minutes later, with Kevin Danso netting their third.

The 2-0 result has Lens (39 points) on the doorstep of a European competition position as they trail fifth-place OGC Nice (40 points) by one point. Franck Haise and his squad will aim to carry this positive momentum into next weekend's home match against Stade Brestois.

Lyon will look for a bounce-back victory on the road when they take on FC Lorient, who secured an impressive win over Stade Rennais on Sunday.
