Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has praised French clubs' performances in the Champions League in 2019-20, saying they reflect extremely positively on Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

PSG made an "exceptional journey" by qualifying for the Champions League final on Tuesday, Zinédine Zidane told AFP on Wednesday, calling Paris' and Lyon's performances "superb for French clubs" and likely to improve the image of Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

The French footballing icon, who won the Champions League three times in a row as coach of Real Madrid (2016-2018), did not rule out the possibility that Neymar, Kylian Mbappé & Co. might finally claim club football's Holy Grail in Sunday's final.

Zidane: 'A good league'

"In any case, they are in the final, it's already an exceptional run," said Zidane in this interview in Aix-en-Provence, as he presented a sports and educational program called 'Zidane Five Club'.

"It's the first time they've reached the Champions League final, and Lyon made it to the semi-finals. It's superb for French clubs. There's a lot of talk about Ligue 1 Uber Eats. I say that Ligue 1 is a good league, a complicated, difficult championship, and to see the French teams doing well in the Champions League is good."
