Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha was well pleased after scoring his first goal with the capital club - a 25-metre screamer in the 3-1 win over Lens ing round 31 - and is hoping for more to help his side clinch are record 11th Ligue 1 Uber Eats title.

The top-of-the-table clash between Paris Saint-Germain and RC Lens at the Parc des Princes on Saturday lived up to its promise, with spectacular goals from usual suspects Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi but also, for the first time, Vitinha.

Duck broken!

The 23-year-old Portugal international had to wait until his 29th Ligue 1 Uber Eats appearance to break his duck in France, but it was worth the wait! Allowed oodles of time by the Lens defence, Vitinha conjured the power and precision necessary to beat Brice Samba from distance and open his PSG account.

"My goal? The lads congratulated me," said a smiling Vitinha, who also bagged his second PSG assist, teeing up Mbappé for the opener. "I'm very happy, I've been wanting it for a long time. I'm very happy today but I want even more goals before the end of the season to help the team win."

'Win every match right up to the end'

Indeed, the midfielder was happy to be on the scoresheet but was staying focused on the bigger picture - the Ligue 1 Uber Eats title which, if Christophe Galtier's men can clinch it, will be the club's 11th - taking PSG past Saint-Etienne's ten titles to become the most successful club in the history France's top flight.

"We needed this win - it was very important to win today. We did it. We know that we will give everything in the seven remaining games. We must maintain this determination to make the difference matches because tactically and technically we are better. We are now nine points ahead - that's a big lead but it's a not decisive one. It's not over yet. We can't give up. We have to be in our best shape in these last seven games and win every match right up to the end."

Paris Saint-Germain's next challenge comes in the form of Friday's trip to face bottom side Angers.
