First European ticket to be awarded on Saturday

The sixth European ticket for French clubs will go to the winner of the Coupe de France final (Saturday 29 April) between holders FC Nantes and Toulouse FC. The victors - who will thus pick up the first European ticket of the season - will then qualify directly for the group stage of the Europa League.

A third place with two entries

In addition to offering the greatest suspense, the race for third place could be accompanied by a nice surprise for the club that wins it on the evening of R38. Indeed, that team could qualify directly for the group stage of the Champions League. To do so, the future third-placed team in Ligue 1 Uber Eats will have to rely on a Europa League winner who has already qualified for the Champions League group stage via their league.

If the future Europa League winner had already qualified for the next Champions League via their league this season, France, fifth in the UEFA rankings after the 2021-22 season, would get a third direct ticket to the group stage.

Otherwise, the third-placed side in Ligue 1 Uber Eats would, like AS Monaco this season, enter the third qualifying round (league route), before having to go through a play-off round to hope to reach the group stage of the competition.
