Gennaro Gattuso labelled his side's second-half performance as "rubbish" and "disastrous" as Marseille's winless run was extended after an entertaining draw against Strasbourg.

Marseille have not won in Ligue 1 Uber Eats since a 3-0 victory over Le Havre on 8th October. That is Gattuso's only victory in the league since replacing Marcelino in September.

His side created chances in the first-half against Strasbourg and despite falling behind to an early Emanuel Emegha goal, Marseille were soon level thanks to Jonathan Clauss. Les Phocéens had more chances to take the lead and they may have done so if not for an inspired Matz Sels performance.

However, Marseille faded in the second-half and it was Les Alsaciens who created the better chances and were disappointed not to take the three points. Gattuso has thus far defended his players since taking charge of the club, but he was left frustrated by his team's outing on Saturday night.

"I don't know how we can play like that. I am very angry with the second-half. It's a disaster. I take responsibility, but I don't know how we can play like that. Wearing this team's shirt is an important responsibility," began Gattuso.

The Italian manager added, "I would have preferred to have lost 4-0 but to have played. Look at how we played in the second-half. I asked the players how that happened. I want explanations. I'm expecting a response tomorrow (Sunday) [...] the team was rubbish."

Marseille face Rennes next week as they look to end a winless run that stretches back almost two months.
