On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against Real Sociedad at the Parc des Princes during the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash.

The first 45 minutes were quiet, with PSG registering four total shots and Real Sociedad recording five total shots. Neither team broke the scoreless deadlock despite their efforts as they headed into halftime.


PSG's attack would come to life in the second half. The Parisians had ten total shots in the final 45 minutes, and eventually, the goals came. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring off a corner kick, and the Ligue 1 side wouldn't stop there.


Minutes later, Bradley Barcola added the second goal of the contest, ensuring PSG will head into the second leg at the Anoeta with a 2-0 aggregate lead. Real Sociedad will need to improve their offensive performance in the second leg to reverse their fortunes, given that the Spanish club failed to register a single shot on target in the first 90 minutes.

On March 5, the pivotal second leg awaits, but preceding this decisive encounter, both teams are scheduled for crucial matches to aid their preparations for the upcoming 90-minute battle, where a ticket to the quarterfinals hangs in the balance.


PSG will play three matches prior to the second leg, taking on FC Nantes on February 17, Stade Rennais on February 25, and Monaco on March 1. Stade Rennais have been impressive lately, while Monaco are one of the leading teams in Ligue 1 this season. These upcoming games against formidable opponents will serve as valuable preparation for Luis Enrique and his team.


Real Sociedad is scheduled to play four matches leading up to their second-leg match against Paris Saint-Germain. They will encounter Mallorca on February 18, Villarreal on February 23, compete in the second leg of the Copa del Rey on February 27, and face Sevilla on March 2.
