Paris Saint-Germain welcome Olympique Lyonnais to the Parc des Princes on Sunday with Kylian Mbappé having overcome a ruction with the coach, Thomas Tuchel, but Neymar Jr not back following a rib injury.

Rumours of discontent at PSG were beginning to swirl over the past week. Neymar picked up a rib injury in the 5-0 win over Montpellier Hérault SC last Saturday, a day before celebrating his 28th birthday, while Mbappé was visibly displeased at being substituted for Mauro Icardi 68 minutes into the victory.

Mbappé played all 90 minutes as PSG beat FC Nantes 2-1 on Tuesday, though, and his embrace with Tuchel at full-time suggested the hatchet had been buried, quite aside from the fact that the German tactician said "there's nothing personal between us, these things happen." Neymar, absent for this game, has been waxing lyrical about his fellow final-third magician.

'I love him'

"Kylian's a phenomenon," he told fifa.com. "He has the potential to become one of the best players in history. To have him as a teammate is a huge honour. We understand one another very well on the pitch, and off it too. I love him!

What further jars with any suspicion of discord within the camp is the champions' incredible winning run. Since their 2-1 reverse at Dijon FCO in November, PSG have triumphed in 18 of their 20 matches in all competitions and 10 of their last 11 in Ligue 1 Conforama, a 3-3 draw with AS Monaco in Round 20 their lone "blemish" domestically.

Paris's 2-1 win at Nantes on Tuesday - in which Icardi and Thilo Kehrer got the goals, both teed up by Angel Di Maria - left them 14 points clear of second-placed Olympique de Marseille, and Tuchel is unlikely to change his team too much with the OL clash presenting a bigger challenge than either of the fixtures that follow it should: Dijon FCO in the Coupe de France and Amiens SC in the league.

Defensive injury crisis

As well as missing Neymar, Tuchel could pick a coherent defensive unit of players nursing injuries. Thiago Silva and Abdou Diallo have thigh complaints, while Marquinhos, Juan Bernat and Colin Dagba are doubts with groin, calf and knee problems respectively. Midfielder Ander Herrera is also missing.

Lyon may begin the day in sixth, some 25 points behind Sunday's hosts, but the sides have shared two wins each in their last four meetings stretching back to January 2018, and PSG needed an 87th-minute winner from Neymar to edge OL in September's reverse fixture.

Watch: Highlights of Lyon's goalless draw with Amiens

Lyon have dealt well with a busy January schedule, winning all seven games played in all competitions. Les Gones, perhaps inevitably, slowed down in February, losing 2-1 at OGC Nice before Wednesday's goalless draw with Amiens, but they remain just four points off LOSC, who occupy the fourth and final European qualification place.

Mistakes punished

"On Sunday we're going to the Parc," said Tuchel's opposite number Rudi Garcia. "And if we make the same mistakes as we did against Amiens, we'll get punished. Too many players played below their normal level. Are they tired or have they peaked? One can wonder. It's a shame because we could've got closer to the podium over the last week."

Garcia has a laundry list of long-term absentees. Memphis Depay, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde and Léo Dubois have all damaged their knee ligaments, while left-back Youssouf Koné has injured his ankle. Sixteen-year-old midfielder Rayan Cherki is pushing to start after impressing from the bench at the Groupama Stadium, meanwhile.
