Danish defender Joachim Andersen says the highlight of his first Olympique Lyonnais season to date was scoring an important Champions League goal against Benfica.

The club record signing from Sampdoria has endured an up and down campaign and has frequently been left out of the OL side. But against Benfica last November he got Lyon on their way by scoring an early headed opener against Portuguese giants Benfica in a match his team went on to win 3-1.

Andersen said: "I think my best memory is the match against Benfica when I scored my first goal for OL in a very important Champions League match. I'm also thinking about the special game against Leipzig when we were 2-0 down and came back to 2-2 and I think we played well in the second half, qualifying for the Round of 16 of the Champions League. I think those are my two best memories so far."

Lyon are 1-0 up in their Round of 16 Champions League tie with Juventus with the return leg to be played in Italy on an as yet to be determined date.

Asked about life in lockdown in an interview with the official Olympique Lyonnais website, Andersen said: "The first week went well but now it's a bit boring being at home, not going to training, not seeing the lads at the training ground. Playing football is something I'm missing and it's boring to train on your own all the time because I'm a footballer and I like playing with the ball."
