OGC Nice have kept their UEFA Champions League aspirations alive while also clinching a spot in a European competition next season following a 1-0 win over Le Havre on Wednesday night at Allianz Riviera.

Francesco Farioli and his team opened the scoring thanks to a goal from Jérémie Boga in the 12th minute. Les Aiglons registered eight total shots in the first 45 minutes, while Le Havre had six total shots heading into halftime.

In the second half, Nice would hold onto their one-goal advantage despite Le Havre generating six total shots as they looked to find the equalizing goal, but that never came with the home side leaving with all three points.

Nice's latest victory helps them maintain their grip on fifth place, but they're still in contention for a Champions League spot next season.

Currently, they trail LOSC Lille by one point, as Les Doguesare set to face FC Nantes on Sunday. Nice also trail Stade Brestois by four points following a draw against Stade de Reims on Friday.

Nice also have two games left on their 2023-24 Ligue 1 schedule against Paris Saint-Germain and Lille. Two wins to close out the season and results that go their way on the final matchday could allow them to play in the Champions League next season.

While the result is ideal for Nice, it's not for Le Havre, who will need to watch the scoreboard this weekend.Le Club Doyenare above FC Metzwho are currently in the relegation playoff spot, by three points, and Les Grenats will face RC Strasbourg on Sunday.

If Metz secure a win over Strasbourg, they will level Le Havre on points (32 points), but Luka Elsner and his team would hold the goal differential tiebreaker heading into the final matchday of the season to see who stays in France's top-flight and avoid the playoff relegation tie.
